Old
Cape Henry Lighthouse
Today, the old Cape Henry Lighthouse silently guards the entry way
into the Chesapeake Bay. Standing near the spot where in 1607 Captain
Newport raised a cross to offer thanks for their safe crossing of
the Atlantic, the Lighthouse is opened to the public on a seasonal
schedule.
Virginia
Aquarium & Marine Science Center
Provides a unique educational adventure which you will not find
anywhere else. They are one of the top ten most visited aquariums
in the nation. The museum is accredited by the American Zoo and
Aquarium Association.
The
Sandbridge Pier
Officially known as the Little Island Fishing Pier (LIP), is a favorite
fishing spot for Virginia Beach locals as well as visitors to the
Sandbridge Beach Community.
First
Landing State Park
Virginia's most popular state park attracting more than a million
visitors annually. On April 26, 1607, 100 English settlers landed
here and established the first elective government in English America
before pushing up the James River to establish Jamestown.
Ocean
Breeze Water Park
Offers 16 waterslides, the 1 million-gallon Runaway Bay wave pool,
the Buccaneer Bay children's area and other fantastic attractions.
Lynnhaven
House
Francis Thelaball II built his house with its massive chimneys in
1725. Typical of early colonial planters' homes, the Lynnhaven House
features a hall-parlor plan with molded ceiling joists and a closed
string Jacobean-type stair. Furnishings reflect the early eighteenth
century.
The
Old Coast Guard Station
A museum and gift shop are housed in a former Coast Guard/Service
Station, the only existing station in Virginia. In this website
you can
shop for unique nautical gifts, become a member, watch a video of
an ocean rescue, and tour the galleries. This is a unique Virginia
Beach museum.
